How To Order

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I store my chocolate?
As always, we add no preservatives to our confections. Chesapeake Chocolates are freshly made to order and taste best if eaten within 3 weeks. Please order your chocolate to arrive just prior to the occasion and enjoy!

Store your chocolates in a cool place (ideally 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit) and keep them away from heat, light, and strong odors.

It is not necessary to refrigerate your chocolates unless temperatures are very high. For full flavor, Chesapeake Chocolates should be eaten at room temperature.

Can I freeze my chocolates?
If you would like to store your chocolates for more than a few weeks, you can freeze them. Seal your chocolates tightly inside a ziplock plastic bag. When you are ready to thaw your chocolates, remove them from the freezer and allow them to come to room temperature before opening the bag (this will minimize condensation on the chocolate). For full flavor, Chesapeake Chocolates should be eaten at room temperature.

Can Chesapeake Chocolates be shipped year-round?
We ship via Priority Mail from September through May. We do not ship during the summer months, because we cannot ensure that the chocolate will arrive in good condition.

How far in advance should I place my order?
Chesapeake Chocolates are made fresh. Most times of the year, chocolates should be purchased just prior to the occasion and mail orders should be placed 7 to 10 days before you want the chocolate to arrive. However, we are sometimes able to turn orders around more quickly, so give us a call. December is our busiest month of the year, and during this time, lead times may be slightly longer.
